WELCOME TO
WholeSum Counselling
Our practice recognizes the importance of understanding individuals within the broader contexts of their identities, relationships, and communities. Healing is viewed as a process that happens through safety, trust, and connection.
WholeSum Counselling is grounded in an intersectional framework that honours cultural identity, lived experience, and systemic influences.
This practice is rooted in care, connection, and community. The name "WholeSum" reflects a dual meaning: “Wholesome” care that nurtures well-being, and “sum” (心), the Cantonese word for heart, representing compassion and cultural grounding.
WholeSum is built on the belief that individuals are shaped by their communities and intersectional identities, and that meaningful healing happens in relationship—not in isolation.
ABOUT
Caprial Leung
Language: English | Cantonese
As the daughter of low-income immigrants, I deeply understand the complexities of navigating bicultural identities, intergenerational expectations, and growing up with limited resources. These lived experiences shape my work as a counsellor and allow me to connect meaningfully with individuals and families who may feel unseen or misunderstood.
Growing up without visible BIPOC representation in mental health spaces continues to shape my commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed counselling. As a BIPOC counsellor in Vancouver, I offer inclusive therapy for individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions.
I also work with adults experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship insecurity, and the impacts of trauma and intergenerational trauma. Therapy can offer space to slow down, understand patterns, and create meaningful change.
My approach is collaborative, client-centred, and grounded in meeting you where you are. I integrate EMDR therapy, CBT, ACT, and Narrative Therapy within a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive framework that recognizes the impact of systems on mental health.

With over nine years of experience, I have supported children, youth, and families in a range of settings, including Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES). My work is grounded in advocacy, equity, and creating accessible mental health care.
I am committed to offering a counselling space where you feel seen, supported, and understood—both for what you are carrying and who you are.
I have a strong passion for working with children, youth, and families. My work focuses on emotional regulation, attachment, communication, and strengthening caregiver-child relationships. I also support parents with parenting stress, co-parenting challenges, and understanding their child’s emotional world in a compassionate way.

I use an integrative, client-centred approach rooted in trauma-informed and social justice–oriented care. I recognize that our experiences are shaped not only by personal history, but also by broader systems and contexts, and I hold space for those realities in our work together.
Drawing from Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I tailor sessions to your unique needs, goals, and pace. Therapy with me is collaborative and strengths-based—we explore the patterns and stories that shape your experience, build effective coping strategies, and foster resilience.
Therapy is not about “fixing” you—it’s about reclaiming your story and stepping into greater self-compassion and agency.
